About Home

Welcome to Leesville Junior High — Home of the Wampus Cats!

Located in the heart of Leesville, Louisiana, Leesville Junior High proudly serves 7th and 8th grade students as part of Vernon Parish Schools. With our focus exclusively on these two grade levels, LJH is committed to supporting students through the unique academic, social, and personal growth that takes place during the junior high years.

We recognize that junior high brings new expectations, greater independence, and important transitions. Our faculty and staff are committed to helping students navigate these changes successfully while providing an environment where students feel known, supported, challenged, and connected. We believe students are most successful when they know they belong, have trusted adults in their corner, and are encouraged to become active members of their school community.

At LJH, we believe a great school experience extends beyond the classroom. Students have access to a diverse range of athletics, clubs, activities, service, and leadership opportunities designed to connect with a variety of interests and talents. Whether students find their place through competition, creativity, academics, service, or leadership, our goal is for every Wampus Cat to have opportunities to get involved, build meaningful relationships, and find a place to belong.

Our school culture is grounded in ROAR — Respect, Ownership, Achieving Excellence, and Responsibility. Through our school-wide positive behavior supports, we intentionally teach, model, recognize, and reinforce these expectations. ROAR encourages students to take pride in themselves, make positive choices, and contribute to a school community where everyone can learn and grow.

Our Wampus Cat community is strengthened by the families, educators, and community partners who invest in our students each day. We are especially proud to welcome students and families who join our community throughout the year, including the many military-connected families who call the Leesville and Fort Polk area home. We value strong school-family partnerships and want families to feel informed, welcomed, and connected to LJH.

At the heart of our school is a simple expectation that reflects the pride, responsibility, and sense of belonging we want every student to carry:

Be Present. Be Proud. Be a Wampus Cat.

We are proud of our students, proud of our community, and excited about what lies ahead for Leesville Junior High.

Welcome to LJH — we’re glad you’re here.
