Dear LJHS Family and Friends,
What a unique and challenging time we are experiencing together! I encourage you to be positive, preventive, and proactive as circumstances arise concerning COVID-19. Our community is coming together in many ways to be as helpful as we can while remaining safe.
Superintendent James Williams and district leaders have been working with other government officials and leaders to ensure the safety of students and staff while serving the educational needs throughout Vernon Parish. As new information is released concerning COVID-19 and school operations, the website for the Vernon Parish School Board is updated. Please visit www.vpsb.us for more information.
Vernon Parish Schools will be offering supplemental learning options in two formats: online and in print. The information is online at www.vpsb.us. The learning material is to support and reinforce content previously taught to the student and it is aligned to state standards. While this does not take the place of regular classroom instruction, I encourage our students and families to utilize the resources to supplement learning during this time at home. These items are for enrichment purposes only, meaning completed work will not be returned to the school.
Schools throughout Vernon Parish will be open Monday – Thursday, 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM. I am thankful to the cafeteria workers, custodial staff, administrative staff, and educators working behind the scenes to make things possible for our students and families. Lunches will be provided for all VPSB students (ages 3-18) beginning on March 23, 2020, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM. During this time, printed resource packets can be picked up for your child. These packets will be available for multiple grades at each meal site in designated schools.
I will continue to keep our LJHS family informed on the Remind app as much as possible. I may be contacted at the office or through email, firstname.lastname@example.org. I appreciate your cooperation and patience as our school system strives to address safety for everyone and the educational needs of our students. Be Safe.
